Graphic Designer - Agency

Position Location: 
York, PA
Full-time, 8 a.m.鈥�5 p.m., Monday鈥揊riday

The Graphic Designer is responsible for the overall design and illustrative graphics and visuals for various Agency projects. This position works collaboratively with the department head to realize a final product. The Graphic Designer is also responsible for consistently delivering on the Agency standards for creative work, as set by the Agency Director, and will continually improve processes to achieve the Agency vision. This position exists to perform the essential functions, as outlined below.

Essential Functions: 
  1. Positively represent the YGS Agency Solutions group and parent 鈥渂rand鈥� both internally and externally by delivering superior creative product, and by establishing and maintaining good relationships and solid communication with internal YGS clients (sales executives, senior management, marketing, etc.), as well as external client contacts as assigned.
  2. Collaborate with Agency Director, Creative Director, Content and Copy Director, Art Directors, Account Managers and other creative staff members to ensure all work that the Agency produces meets and exceeds industry standards.
  3. Adhere to schedules set by Agency Director.
  4. Update tasks in WebVantage, the project management tool for Agency. This includes logging time and closing out tasks that are finished.
  5. Set up new job folders on the server and move files to the released folder once completed.
  6. Prepare for weekly meetings to thoroughly discuss and review current projects.
  7. Prepare work for print, digital and wide-format production. Complete document layouts for release, based on YGS prepress specifications.
  8. Participate in telephone and face-to-face meetings and discussions involving clients, and ensure quality and timeliness of creative content.
  9. Provide solutions to any issues with process.
  10. Participate as a member of the Agency team to plan, develop and deliver new business pitches.
  11. Develop strategies for continually improving creativity.
  12. Develop creative strategies that fit client business needs.
  13. Participate in the presentation of creative, both internally and externally.
  14. Participate in print production process from paper selection to press check.
  15. Participate in photo and video shoots, as assigned.
  16. Attend meetings and YGS-related events, as needed.
  17. React to change timely and handle other essential duties, as assigned.
  • A four-year bachelor鈥檚 degree in design, advertising or communications is preferred.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years鈥� experience in a Graphic Design role.
  • Apply effective principles and techniques of design.
  • Evaluate and demonstrate creative work.
  • Establish and maintain a reputation for innovation and creativity.
  • Stay informed of latest creative trends.
  • Maintain a knowledge of production skills.
  • Apply the latest techniques in new media and technology.
  • Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understand and apply text edits from clients with an eye for detail.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office products on Mac and PC platforms, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Knowledge of pre-flight and printing specifications.
  • Working knowledge of Google DFP and SendMyAd, preferred.
  • Flexible team player who learns quickly, can work independently, has outstanding prioritization and time management skills, has a proven ability to multitask, and works well under pressure.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as organizational capabilities, are a must.
  • Ability to maintain a fast pace and work with a sense of urgency.
  • Valid driver鈥檚 license and reliable transportation required.
Physical Requirements: 
  • Position works in office areas approximately 80% of the time.
  • Professional office environment requires flexibility in work hours with a minimum of 8 hours per day.
  • Overtime is required to meet client deadlines.
  • Potential out-of-town travel (currently less than 20%). Travel may be by driving or other commercial means of transportation (air, train, etc.).
  • Need to regularly move around inside the office areas to access files, operate office machinery, etc.
  • Must communicate, listen, hear, speak, converse with and/or convey information as needed.
  • Regularly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer as needed.
  • Position frequently communicates with coworkers, customers and business partners to complete work assignments. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Environment is not regularly exposed to extreme changes in temperatures or weather conditions.
  • Environment is considered to contain low-to-medium noise levels.
  • Must see, detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate and assess information as needed.
  • May carry weight, lift (to a height of 3鈥�4 feet), transfer, position or remove materials up to 20 pounds occasionally, and up to 10 pounds regularly.
  • Will use fingers, hands and arms to feel, grasp, handle, push, pull, lift, lower and position objects and/or materials as needed.
  • Will use feet and legs to climb stairs or ladders, balance, ascend and descend as needed to complete work assignments.
